You are here: Home > In winter > Activities in Morzine
Morzine is a beautiful, traditional town, with a charm not found in other purpose built ski resorts. You'll find gorgeous wood and stone architecture, in an immense tree lined valley. Take a break from skiing to wander the town, passing by a variety of shops (from ski stores, to shops selling hand made toys and furnishings); take in the weekly market; head to a chic bar or traditional café; and see the picturesque church, old bridge and chalets. There's also an open air ice skating rink, cinemas showing films in English, horse drawn sleigh rides, and a mini-train ride across town for children.
The main attraction, however, is the enormous Portes du Soleil ski area, with 650 kms of marked pistes. The Hotel Champs Fleuris*** is right next to the Pleney ski lift, so you have easy access to the snowboarding and skiing, and at the end of the day you can simply ski back down to the hotel. The gentle slopes surrounding the hotel make a perfect sledging spot for children.
Morzine also organizes plenty of events during the season. Dogs lovers won't want to miss 'The Grande Odyssée', a husky dog race; while women should look out for the new 'Morzine loves Women' week.
Throughout the winter plenty of other activities are on offer in Morzine. Choose from snowshoe outings, husky dog sledding, hot air ballooning, ice diving, paragliding, ice-skating, snowmobiling or even watching the famous ice hockey team.
