Throughout the winter season, there are plenty of activities in Morzine. With 650 kilometres (400 miles) of marked runs and the magnificent Portes du Soleil ski area, in winter the main activities are winter sports (skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing, sledging, etc.)
Morzine also organizes plenty of activities and events throughout the season so that you can make the most of your skiing holiday. Morzine hosts one of the stages of "The Grande Odyssée", one of the most difficult sled dog races, originally based on an idea by the famous adventurer, Nicolas Vanier, and created by the entrepreneur Henry Kam. An event not to be missed! You'll be able to watch the greatest mushers in Europe who race with their worldwide teams of husky dogs, through 10 staging points that climb more than 25,000 metres (80,000 feet) in altitude - a truly magical show! And, for this grand occasion, Morzine provides countless types of entertainment for all ages such as: eagle-taming demonstrations, Indic workshops, basic lessons in dogsledding, making maple syrup lollipops, tepee villages, etc.
Many more activities are possible in Morzine such as: snowshoe outings, basic lessons in skijoring (a combination of skiing and being pulled along by horses), hot-air ballooning, ice diving, paragliding, helicopter rides, the mountain film festival Festiv'Alp (where you can watch films for free), workshops about snow and avalanches, visits to the snow factory, presentations about the environment and waste recycling, etc.
Don't miss La Semaine Blanche (literally, the white week) which is organized every winter in Morzine - a week entirely dedicated to experiencing life in the mountains.
Finally, you will also find more traditional activities in Morzine: indoor and outdoor ice-rink, snowmobiles, paintball, etc.
